Wow!!! This is truly a rare find!!! This is a beautiful mid-century Chinese glazed ceramic vase with cinnabar accents circa late 1940's. Cinnabar is a naturally occurring mineral that has been used for centuries as a pigment in Chinese art (the creation of lacquerware, pottery, paintings, and other forms of art). The red color is highly valued and associated with prosperity in Chinese culture. Cinnabar accents used in combination with ceramic art reached its peak during the Ming dynasty (1368 to 1644), which also saw advancements in ceramic production techniques and the development of new glaze colors. These ceramic treasures represented a high level of craftsmanship and artistic expression! This exquisite vase is in excellent condition. There is some minor wear and crackling commensurate with it's age. The original box is included, please note it has significant marks on one side and some paper tears.
This vase is 12" inches high, 5 1/2" inches wide, the mouth of the vase is 2 3/4" inches, and it's base is 4 1/2" inches in diameter.
